Our Story

Why we're building Tack.

The honest story behind a simple idea: help small businesses turn one-time visitors into regulars — without needing an app, a loyalty card, or a marketing degree.

The moment it clicked

It started at a café in Sweden. Great coffee, lovely staff, the kind of place you tell yourself you'll come back to. But you don't. Not because anything was wrong — you just… forget.

A week later you walk past it, and there's that small pang of "oh right, I liked that place." But you're already headed somewhere else. The café lost a repeat customer — not to a competitor, but to forgetfulness.

That's when I started asking: what if there was a way for that café to gently pull you back? Not with a clunky app. Not with a punch card that lives in your wallet until it disintegrates. Something that takes 5 seconds on the way out and actually works.

The problem (in numbers)

Here's what the data says: acquiring a new customer costs 5–7× more than retaining an existing one. A 5% increase in retention can boost profits by 25–95%.

Yet most small businesses — cafés, salons, barbershops, boutiques — have zero retention strategy. They pour money into Instagram ads and hope people come back. Some try loyalty apps that cost hundreds per month and require customers to download yet another app.

The gap was clear: small businesses needed something dead simple, affordable, and effective. Not another platform to manage. A tool that works for them, quietly, in the background.

The idea: scan, rate, return

Tack. is built on one insight: the moment a customer leaves is actually the best moment to bring them back. They just had a great experience — capture that energy.

A QR code on the counter. Customer scans it on their way out. They leave a quick star rating, drop their email, and instantly get a discount code that "burns in" over a few hours — creating gentle urgency to return.

If they don't come back to use the discount. Tack. sends a friendly "we miss you" email with a fresh offer. It's not spam. It's a nudge from a place they already liked.

The build journey

I'm building Tack. in public. Here's the timeline so far:

April 2026: The "Aha" Moment

Hit the pavement and talked to 10+ local shop owners here in Sweden. Most shared the same frustration: "I know I need to bring customers back, but I don't have the time, tech, or budget to figure it out." The idea for a zero-integration tool was born.

May 2026: Heads Down Building

Turned those conversations into a live product in just a few weeks. Built the 10-second QR customer loop, the real-time merchant dashboard, and the secure "Visual Burn" anti-fraud timers.

Now: Opening the Doors

Launching the Founding Merchants program. Opening up the platform to the first 1,000 businesses to put up a poster (and giving them 3 months free to prove the ROI).

Where we are now

Tack. is live. The product works. We're onboarding our first wave of Founding Merchants — small businesses who want to be early and help shape the product.

The Founder 1000 Feedback Loop

We aren't just looking for users; we're looking for partners. Our immediate priority is working 1-on-1 with our first 1,000 merchants to see exactly how Tack. fits into their daily workflow and what we can do to make it even more effortless.

From "Nudges" to "Autonomous Insights"

We're currently refining our engine to move beyond simple automation. The goal is a system that learns the "heartbeat" of your specific business — knowing exactly when a customer is about to drift away and bringing them back without you lifting a finger.

Stability & Scale

As we roll out to more locations, we are obsessed with one thing: Reliability. Whether it's 10 scans or 10,000, the experience for the customer must be instant and the data for the merchant must be perfect.

The "Zero-Admin" Vision

Small business owners are already too busy. Our ultimate roadmap isn't about adding "more buttons" to click; it's about removing them. We're building toward a future where "Retention" is a utility that just runs in the background — like the electricity or the Wi-Fi.

Join the Founding Merchants

The first 1,000 businesses to put their QR poster up get 3 months free, no credit card required. Your trial only starts when your first customer scans — so you have time to get set up.
